Netflix UK just unveiled and showcased a bunch of movies and series from its upcoming lineup of titles scheduled for 2024, 2025, and beyond. We’ll cover everything that was announced below.

This is the second major Next on Netflix event this week, following yesterday’s German movie and series announcements. We’re here at the event in person, so stay tuned for a first impressions article where I’ll cover everything I see and what I think in due course.

So, let’s run through all the big new announcements:

Adolescence (Working Title)

Adolescence is a new four-part limited series coming to Netflix in 2025 that brings together the award-winning team of Stephen Graham, Philip Barantini, and Jack Thorne in a real-time, one-shot style crime drama, with production by Warp Films and Matriarch.

After months of not wanting to reveal anything about Black Mirror, Netflix has confirmed our reporting that we’ll be getting six episodes of Black Mirror including a USS Callister spinoff.

New episodes touch down on Netflix in 2025.

Grown Ups

From the team behind Heartstopper, this new scripted series (due out in 2026) adapts the best-selling novel Grown Ups by Marian Keyes.

Per Netflix, here’s what you can expect:

“Based on three couples – Nell and Liam, Cara and Ed, Jessie and Rory, like most families, the Caseys are a complicated bunch. Ever-shifting politics. Old and new resentments. Arguments that blow over quickly and hurts that are nursed forever. They’re loyal. Noisy. And bound together by a whole lot of love.”

The Choice

Revealed yesterday, Netflix officially launched The Choice today, the second major show from writer and director Matt Charman, who worked on Netflix’s Obsession and, more recently, the defunct movie The Mothership.

Netflix confirmed our reporting that Suranne Jones will be headlining the cast. They also confirmed that Julie Delpy will star alongside Corey Mylcreest, Lucian Masmati, Ashley Thomas, James Cosmo, and Jehnny Beth.

The Witness

STV Studios is behind this new series that we were able to reveal exclusively a short while ago. The three-episode miniseries is based on the memoir of Alex and André Hanscombe and is about a father who becomes a single parent overnight following the brutal murder of his wife, Rachel. The story tracks how a father and son made it through the aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy, through darkness and into light.

Filming will commence in the summer of 2024 with a 2025 release date.

Millennium Diamond Heist

Netflix is reteaming with Guy Ritchie following The Gentlemen for a new three-part docu-series about fairly recent events that cover “a group of South-East London criminals are orchestrating what just might be the most audacious heist of all time.”
